Class Update #2–Escondido

Buon giorno e complimenti a tutti per il vostro entusiasmo (your enthusiasm)!!! Our class is un grande piacere!
And now, here’s your weekly update…



What we studied/practiced:

  • A review of Italian Greetings/ Intro’s/ Polite-Useful Phrases/ Small Talk
  • The Italian Alphabet and Italian Pronunciation
  • The song “Un Bacio a Mezzanotte”, translation, pronunciation practice, and singing! (Links to hear the song on Links Page.)

    Outside-of-Class-Activities:

    (Aka Homework, except fun!!!)

    1. Translate these words/phrases into Italian. Use the online dictionaries (for the words) and translators (for the phrases) located on the Links Page. We will use these during next class: Camera, postcards, stamps, cell phone, ticket, cheese, bread, How much does it cost?, Where can I buy batteries?, Where is the bank?
    2. Brainstorm Challenge: Come up with at least 5 ideas on how you can incorporate Italian language into your everyday life. Come to class with your ideas written on a piece of paper and receive a raffle ticket for a prize drawing at the end of class!!!!!! [Note: You must do this outside of class to be eligible for the drawing!]

  • Announcements:

    • CD Player Needed: During class last nite, my CD player died an untimely death :(. If anyone has, or knows of someone who has, an unused CD player in need of adoption, please let me know. Grazie!
    • Hands-on Italian Cooking Tutorial. We have a kitchen! Pamela has generously offered to hold the cooking class at her place. Grazie! Stay tuned for more info.
    • Next Italian Film is this Thursday, 10/22, 7pm, $$Free, suggested donation (presented by San Diego Italian Film Festival) in Balboa Park. Several of us went to the film last week — It is an excellent opportnity to soak up some Italian culture! More details click here.
