Sunday Brunch Online Conversation Series (All Levels)

What it is: A series of stand-alone fun & effective speaking clinics designed to perfectly position you to practice & improve your Italian speaking & listening skills with others who love the language & culture as much as you do!

Who it’s for: Everyone! All levels of language ability are welcome (best for those who have at least a grounding in the basics).

How it works:  Each conversation class/clinic event is 1.5 hours of concentrated focus on actively using the language.  But it’s so much more! 

Several days ahead of the event, you’ll receive an article to read & study in Italian, plus the translation to help with comprehension. Topics covered are interesting, current, engaging. 

The day of the event, you will already be versed in the topic/article we’ll discuss.  You’ll receive online log-in details plus a series of questions carefully crafted to set you up for a successful, beneficial, positive experience. 

Comprehension questions cue you to use the vocabulary and language structures in the reading. Discussion prompts make it easy to then use all of it to talk about the subject/topics as they relate to your life. 

You’ll be grouped with learners at a similar language level, to assure maximum participation.  Your instructor will be present to help guide you,  answer questions, and coach you on different areas of the language.

Backstory/How it was born: It started as an experiment out of a desire to share my skills during quarantine, and with gratitude to be able to practice teaching on a virtual platform. People had so much fun and found it so useful that they wanted to know what came next. This Sunday Brunch Convo Series is the answer.

We’re now three sessions in – four if you count the quarantine pilot series. By this point (Winter 2021) we’ve got it perfected and running like a well-oiled machine. People are having a great time and reporting how beneficial they find it – plus over time I am seeing students improve!

  • You connect with others who enjoy Italian language and culture in a warm, engaging, and supportive environment.
  • We’re all missing connection with people, and this is a way to get that and practice Italian at the same time. The virtual learning technology used allows us to feel connected and be with others learning at the same time.
  •  It’s a fabulous new way to practice speaking with others at your own language skill level from the comfort of your home, in an intimate-sized group, and with the benefit of my many years of language teaching and expertise… guidance, encouragement, support… plus the fun of also being part of a larger group.
  •  The Conversation Series is great on its own and is also the missing piece to weekly language classes. One thing students almost never get enough of and can’t do on their own is practice speaking. Yet it’s the element that can take your language skills, fluency, and confidence to the next level. ( If you really want to move the needle on your speaking skills, this is the way!
  • Italian language immersion that includes both instruction and social interaction on your own level.
  •  The discussion group is a real benefit – something you don’t get with any other way of learning Italian…not a book, not a software program, not a classroom.
