“Tutto fa brodo.”

📍Significato / Meaning:
Ogni piccola cosa conta. In cucina è importante non sprecare. Invece di buttare cibo che avanza spesso si può usarlo per fare brodo. Metaforicamente è un concetto che vale anche fuori l’ambiente culinario. Oggetti che non servono più alla loro funzione originale possono tornare utili per un altro proposito per così evitare lo spreco.

📍Traduzione / Translation:
“Everything makes broth.”

Every little thing or bit counts, has a use. In the kitchen it’s important not to waste. Instead of throwing away left-over food, often it can be used to make broth. Metaphorically this concept also applies outside the culinary environment. Objects that no longer serve their original function may come in handy for another purpose and therefore avoid waste.

“O mangi la minestra o salti dalla finestra!”

📍Significato / Meaning:
È un detto spesso usato in modo scherzoso per riferire ad una situazione difficile o poco piacevole quando però non ci sono alternative.

📍Traduzione / Translation:
“Either eat the soup or jump out the window!”

It is a saying often used jokingly to refer to a difficult or unpleasant situation in which there are no alternatives.

“La zuppa senza formaggio è come una carrozza senza cavalli.”

📍Significato / Meaning:
Una carrozza senza cavalli non va da nessuna parte quindi sono essenziali alla carrozza, cosi come secondo questo proverbio la zuppa senza il formaggio non va!

📍Traduzione / Translation:
“Soup without cheese is like a carriage without horses.”

A carriage without horses goes nowhere, so they’re essential to the carriage, just as, according to this proverb, soup without cheese is a no-go!
